I recently opened my company, Local Basel, to represent local artists across the USA. As a humanitarian and an empath, I learned the other side of the art world and saw that there are incredible, talented people that don’t have as many opportunities as the international featured artists. I advocate for artists who have studies and backgrounds but don’t have a chance.

When I look at the art environment today, Like many of us I’ve reinvented myself through the years. I’ve been around Fashion and design quite a bit. When I landed the job at Kush it was like a lightbulb went off. I felt myself in the art world almost immediately. Since then I’ve been studying, watching mainly the art world of Miami. And while there are some hidden gems out there what I see is more superficial pop culture then artistic maturity and integrity. And with the hyper commercialization and availability now mass produced “art”, including now with AI authenticity is becoming rare. The current themes around ethnographies populism are boring and are not relatable to many Americans. Many curators seem to be downstream of cultural politics.
